Glossier Lip Balm Holder

In Spring 2022, I started to experiment with product design and 3D printing, working with the digital software OnShape. I created a trio lip balm holder designed for the famous Glossier lip balms. After creating and 3D printing the holder, I shot a mock campaign showcasing the product in use with Glossier’s lip balms.

Working with OnShape, I was inspired to create the lip balm holder after observing a lack of storage in my space for all my lip balms. Being an avid collector of the Glossier lip balm and keeping up with new releases, I wanted to find a way to showcase the different flavors I own. My design was inspired by the storefront display - upright and minimal, instantly evident to the customer. After designing and measuring the holder to perfectly fit 3 Glossier lip balms, I then 3D printed it in a color that would match the brand colors.

After printing and assembling my collection, I shot a mock campaign for Glossier, showcasing the use of this holder with the lip balm product. For the campaign shoot, I followed the candid and in-the-space aesthetic Glossier strives for with it’s product photography.

After showcasing my product and campaign on Instagram, Glossier interacted with the posts and reached out to me offering to showcase some of the photos for their own marketing campaigns and on Instagram.

Through this experience, I learned all about the start-to-end process of a product and its stages of ideation, design, 3D print, followed by campaign storytelling and product shoots.
